The Assistant Specialist will carry out experiments and contribute to the project. The appointee possesses a Master’s degree or previous relevant experience to carry out experiments. The appointee will participate in activities to increase, improve, or upgrade competency. Assistant specialists will work with postdoctoral researchers and the PI on experiments and data interpretation. He/she is not required to develop an independent research program or reputation.


Perform research on screening and developing synthetic biology tools for the ultimate purpose of
improving plant transformation and genetic engineering efforts.
1) RESEARCH (90 %)
The appointee will help to carry out research goals in consultation with the Principal Investigator. Experience in microbiology and molecular biology required. The appointee will work with other postdocs to help design and carry out experiments. The appointee will generate and organize data from experiments.
The appointee will participate in lab meetings and one on one meetings with the Principal
The appointee will participate in carrying out experiments that will provide the underlying research for future potential undergraduate researchers.


Basic Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must have at least an M.A. in a field of synthetic biology.
Additional Qualifications:
Lab experience specifically in synthetic biology and have experience working with
Agrobacterium, yeast, and protein biochemistry preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants must be able to keep a complete and detailed laboratory notebook of experimental procedures and data and to archive, label and document graphic and tabular data for publication, proposals, and/or presentations.
